United Airlines makes first demo flight on Kamchatka-4 (B932) route

UAL883 Demostration Flight Report

  1. Between ORVIL & ONEOX got climb clearance to metric altitude from ANC center on 128.2.

  2. Radar contact terminated at OGGOE, told to report NATES.

  3. NATES-Told to report KOKES to Petro 135.4 P Victor, 11285 P HF, and 6544 S HF. We noticed traffic around KOKES at both metric (us) and non metric altitudes going to the tracks south of us. Minimum 2000' altitude separation recomended to keep us 1000' apart.

  4. KOKES-Petro contact on 135.4. Radio 4X3 and scratchy. (loudness & clarity) Report LOKDI.

  5. LOKDI-Position Report requested at PEKUT. Also we were requested to give a VHF radio check every 100 NM. Still scratchy on VHF. 4X3. About 100NM from PEKUT unable contact on 135.4. OK on HF 11285.

  6. PEKUT-Contacted Petro on 11285 2X2. Then given 6544 and much better at 4X4. Told to contact Sakalinsk at OKATU. 6529 P, 129.4 S. We were to report OKATU to Petro on 6544.

  7. OKATU-Contacted Petro on 6544, told to maintain 10,600M and to talk to Sakalinsk on 6529. Told to report 45NM prior to TOKUI on 6529 or 129.4. Crew not sure if we were log on to CPDLC before Japan FIR. 30 minutes prior to TOKUI tried to logon to RJTG and were never sucessful. Crew assumed no logon since they would not enter Tokyo oceanic control. 45NM prior to TOKVI called Sakalinsk. Told to climb to FL350 and report reaching and report TOKUI on 6529.

  8. TOKUI-Sakalinsk told us to contact Sapporo control on 127.5. Sapporo gave squak code and radar contact.

    General crew comments were "No problems."
